iPad birthday card …

The guy I made this card for is so hard working – taking holidays very rarely – but he does occasionally take a little time out for his passions … football, cars and gadgets!  So when he recently had a big birthday I made him an iPad card, using stamp images from different Stampin’ Up stamp sets…

I stamped each image in early espresso ink onto a coloured cardstock square, and then adhered to a basic black cardstock base with tombow multi-purpose glue, and added some highlights with a white gel pen.

Here’s what you need to make today’s card – all supplies from Stampin’ Up!

cardstock: basic black, pumpkin pie, bashful blue, certainly celery, poppy parade, pink pirouette, daffodil delight, wisteria wonder; stamp sets: happiest birthday wishes hostess set, open sea, circle circus, fox and friends, party this way, schoolbook serif alphabet (retired), sweetheart, artistic etchings, just soccer (retired); ink: early espresso; punches: square, circle; accessories: tombow adhesive, white gel pen.

Party this way Tom!

A while back, my friend Jon asked me to make a card for his nephew, Tom, who is really keen on Ben 10. I didn’t know where to start at first as I have nothing in my craft stash like this at all! So Jon helped me out by giving me a picture of the character which I used as a topper on the card, mounted with stampin’ dimensionals

I used the very versatile Party This Way stamp set from Stampin Up to stamp candles, balloons and the sentiment in so saffron, old olive and pumpkin pie onto whisper white cardstock, and then mounted these onto a green card base from my stash.

I love the way it turned out, and does Ben 10 really wear old olive coloured trousers?  If not, it was a very good match!

Owls, farewells and party this way …

My friend and colleague has taken a year out to do some volunteer work in the Sudan. It’s something she’s always wanted to do, and she is so brave to follow her dream.

We are happy for her but will miss her while she’s gone, so I used my owl punch and party this way stamp set from Stampin Up to make a good luck card for her send off…

I gave each owl different coloured eyes – the brown eyes (chocolate chip) look huge! – and gave each owl different wings, positioning the wings to make it look like were waving goodbye. I think she liked it!

I love the party this way stamp set, it is so versatile, and I have used it so much on a variety of cards. All I need now is a punch to punch out those bunting flags that I have to cut out by hand at the moment!

I used bashful blue for the sky and some designer series paper to represent the grassed area. I then had loads of fun mixing up bright colours – tempting turquoise, melon mambo, pumpkin pie and green galore (retired) – to make the card really cheerful.

Birthdays and Beatles…

Over at the Less is More site, this week’s challenge is a recipe to use a combination of 3 previous challenges …

Oh my word… what to choose?  So many possibilities!

My friend, Sarah, asked me to make some gift vouchers for her boyfriend.  She’d decided on an 80s theme and his party invitations were in really bright colours on a black background, so I needed something that kept with the theme.  For the challenge, my card is a combination of…

Week 7 – masculine

Week 24 – circles

Week 29 – things that move

I used a combination of punches and the Party this Way stamp set from Stampin’ Up! for the card front, and the gift vouchers for the inside were designed on my computer…

I used a white gel pen to add some highlights to the “vinyl records” to bring them to life.

I love the way the cards looked as a group…

Not only is it Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, but it’s also the Mathew Street Festival in Liverpool, affectionately known as Beatles’ Weekend.  It is the biggest annual free music festival in Europe, with 5 large, open air stages, and it’s right on our doorstep – woo hoo!  The music is great, the atmosphere is fantastic and it’s a great family day out.

I’ve checked the website and there’s a great music line-up this year so … party this way!
