Mario punch art birthday …

My nephew turned 10 last week.  We bought him a Mario computer game so I made a card to go with it …

I was inspired by a gift bag I’d seen on Pinterest here, and by the pictures on the game box too.  I used a variety of punches, but also did a little freehand cutting.

It seemed to go down very well with the birthday boy!

So, have you discovered Pinterest yet? It is an amazing place for ideas and inspiration … or even just for admiration of all the beautiful creations by fabulously talented people out there! I love it!

I think, therefore I pin …

And whilst I wasn’t looking, my blog count reached over 50,000 hits! Oh my word – how did that happen?!

I am truly amazed and feel very honoured that there are so many people out there who like my blog enough to stop by for a look – so a great big thank you to all my blog readers - I am very thankful for your support.  Big hugs….

Party this way Tom!

A while back, my friend Jon asked me to make a card for his nephew, Tom, who is really keen on Ben 10. I didn’t know where to start at first as I have nothing in my craft stash like this at all! So Jon helped me out by giving me a picture of the character which I used as a topper on the card, mounted with stampin’ dimensionals

I used the very versatile Party This Way stamp set from Stampin Up to stamp candles, balloons and the sentiment in so saffron, old olive and pumpkin pie onto whisper white cardstock, and then mounted these onto a green card base from my stash.

I love the way it turned out, and does Ben 10 really wear old olive coloured trousers?  If not, it was a very good match!

Flower daisies…

I have been having such a blast! Ultra busy but having such fun with my crafting friends!

At cake class in week 4, we learned how to make flowers from sugar paste, and I may not have made a lot, but what I did manage to make in class I was pleased with …

I loved the little calla lilies and I loved the way the carnations turned out too. I know there’s room for improvement, but for a first attempt it wasn’t too bad. It really helped that you use the same principles to make sugar flowers as you do when making paper flowers, so that helped me a lot!

And making the sugar flower plaque gave me the inspiration to make this wedding card that my friend asked me to make for her friends, Sam and Amy…

I love the bashful blue and whisper white together – reminds me a little of Wedgewood …

All supplies from Stampin Up.

Sweet bundle of love …

I started a beginners cake decorating course at night school in September.  My daughter, who is getting married in 18 months’ time, has asked me to make her wedding cake and whilst I feel very honoured, I also feel a little daunted too …

She asked me because I made my own wedding cake … but that was 24 years ago and I only decorated it as my mum made the fruit cake base!  So I thought I’d better do something about it now whilst I have plenty of time to practise …

So far I am loving the course.  We have a lovely teacher (hi Tracey) and I’ve made friends with a great girl, Claire, who helps me enormously.  On the very first lesson, Tracey got us doing some sugar modelling … here’s my first attempt at sugar crafting…

I lost count of how many times I did the ears and took them off again, but I have not laughed so much in ages – it was great fun!

Now for something I feel a little more comfortable with … my friend, Ana, asked me to make a new baby card for her friends in Italy.  I used my favourite baby stamp set from Stampin’ Up! called Bundle of Love…

I just love this two-step stamp set.  The images are so cute they are adorable!  I used whisper white and pretty in pink for the card but the lighting wasn’t quite right when I was photographing it and everything turned out looking a little pink - maybe I should sign up for a photography course next!
