A fabulously floral Mother’s Day …

I received some beautiful flowers for Mother’s Day … 

They are gorgeous and I’m sure my photos don’t do them justice – they are stunning in real life, and the colours are amazing – I feel totally spoiled.

In cake class this week, we made a floral plaque …

And I made some Mother’s Day cards for my friends using the fresh vintage sale-a-bration stamp set …

a pink and a blue …

 

I stamped the same design I’d used on my gift bags here.  

I liked the way the blue one turned out so much that I made a smaller, A6 size version for a birthday card we made at Velda’s craft evening this week too…

I love the effect of the two tone colours on the main image.

Bashful blue and marina mist colours go so well together.

Bring out the flags …

I’m so excited! My lovely friend, Eunice, passed her PhD last week! Her viva done and thesis submitted – just the corrections to go – she must be delighted! All her hard work has paid off. Eunice is one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. She is kind, caring, works really hard and yet can always spare a moment or two to ask how you are, or just to say hi. I am so very proud of her – she deserves to do well.

So I wanted to make Eunice a card to congratulate her and wish her well for the future. I took inspiration from a card I saw recently on Pinterest, by Debby Hughes. I loved the bunting flags and Eunice’s success was definitely an occasion to get the flags out!

I used the petite pennants builder punch from Stampin’ Up! to punch out bunting, or flag shapes, from the gorgeous enchantment designer series paper, currently available for FREE during sale-a-bration with a £45 spend. I just love the colours of the paper – so cheerful. I teamed it up with bashful blue cardstock for my “sky”, with “clouds” punched out from whisper white cardstock using the cupcake builder punch. Some certainly celery cardstock, punched with the eyelet border punch, brought the colours together. I tied a knot with regal rose grosgrain ribbon (sadly retired) which I love, and which complemented the colours of the dsp perfectly. I find grosgrain ribbon ties really neatly and sits so well on cards – love it!

I used a crumb cake card base, stamped in versamark ink with the small flower image from the fresh vintage stamp set (also available for FREE during sale-a-bration). Having corner rounded the bottom corners, I added some faux stitching with a white gel pen to give it that finishing touch. I added a strip of the same paper on the inside too, and a line of faux stitching to match.

Fresh vintage gift bags…

I wanted some gift bags for my friends, so decided to personalise some of my own, and reached for the fresh vintage stamp set which is FREE during sale-a-bration with a £45 spend. 

Although all the sets on offer in the sale-a-bration leaflet are great, I think this one is my favourite …

 

I stamped onto plain brown paper lunch bags which I bought at my local supermarket, in two colours – rich razzleberry and elegant eggplant.  I used my stamp-a-majig to line up the line image across the bag, and made matching gift tags using the postage punch available in the spring mini catalogue until the end of April 2012.  I mounted these onto matching cardstock punched out with the large tag punch and tied them onto the bags with gold elastic thread – unfortunately retired.  I’m down to the last few yards of my roll and will miss it so much when it’s gone – please bring it back Stampin Up! 

I loved how the gift bags turned out and hope the ladies I made them for liked them too!
